NaturAlmond Almond Meal

Did you know that we grind almond meal fresh each week in our production facility in Atlanta, GA?  Almond flour is usually made with blanched almonds (no skin) and is sifted so that it is super fine, whereas almond meal can be made both with whole or blanched almonds. The consistency of almond meal is more like corn meal than a wheat flour. 

Almond meal has recently become popular in baking items for those on low carbohydrate diets, gluten free diets, Grain Free, Paleo, etc.- or for those simply looking to incorporate more of the health benefits of almonds into the diet.  Almond flour adds moistness and a rich nutty taste to baked goods.  Items baked with almond meal tend to be calorie-dense, but full of nutritional value.  I have to say, it has become my new favorite ingredient with which to experiment in the kitchen!

I love to make “quick-bread" type recipes with almond meal.  From muffins to nut breads, pancakes, cookies and pizza or pie crusts, my family has been forced to sample all of my creations over the past few months.  Some recipes have turned out quite disastrous, while others have been fantastic!  Typically, additional eggs are required when baking with almond meal to maintain shape/structure and I typically add fresh fruits such as bananas, blueberries, strawberries, peaches or whatever is in season.  Below is a great recipe that our very own, Travis, created and trust me- you will want to make it!!!  Kids love this recipe too and it is great for back to school breakfasts or lunch box additions!

Almond meal can also be used as breading for chicken, fish and veggies, but make sure to cook at a low temperature and monitor frequently as it will burn quickly due to its low heat conductivity.  Two of my favorite recipes using almond meal as a “breading” are:


Paleo Coconut Shrimp

Nutty Coconut Fish


Travis' NaturAlmond Muffins

1 Cup NaturAlmond Original Almond Butter….although any flavor will work

1 Cup NaturAlmond Almond Meal

3 Eggs, whisked

¼ - ½ Cup Raw Honey

1/3 Cup Virgin Coconut Oil, melted

½ teaspoon Baking Soda

½ teaspoon Baking Powder

½ teaspoon Cinnamon

**Optional Add-Ins Based On Your Palate- ½ Cup Fresh Blueberries, ½ Cup Chocolate Chips, 1/3 Cup Unsweetened Shredded Coconut, Mashed Banana, etc.The sky is the limit, but make sure you share any special creations with us!


  1. Preheat oven to 350° degrees
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with an electric mixer and the fold in **Optional Add-Ins
  3. Place ingredients into lined muffin tins
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes
